Trim Audio

Cut the start and end off an audio file and save the part you keep.

Your files stay on your device.

Drop a recording to trim it

MP3, WAV, FLAC, OGG, M4A, AAC, AIFF and WebM recordings, or MP4, MOV and WebM videos, up to 2 GB.

Recordings are processed on your device. Nothing is uploaded, and your original is never changed.

How exact is a cut?

  • Exact to the sample: The decoded audio is cut at the sample that matches your times. Typed times have millisecond resolution, and Zoom to selection helps to place a handle precisely.
  • MP3 encoder delay: An MP3 result starts with a few milliseconds of encoder delay, as every MP3 does. WAV has none.
  • Saved as MP3 or WAV: The kept part is encoded again. WAV avoids a second compression if you plan to edit further.

Frequently asked questions

How do I set exact times?

Open Fine tune and type the start and end (for example 1:23.5), or tab to a handle on the waveform and use the arrow keys: 0.1 seconds per press, 1 second with Shift, 10 seconds with Page Up and Page Down.

Can I cut a part out of the middle?

Not in one step. Split the recording at both ends of that part, then join the parts you keep with Merge Audio.

Can I trim a video?

Its sound, yes, in two steps: drop the video and click Extract audio, then choose Continue with this recording and trim it. The video itself is not trimmed.

Do I have to export to hear the result?

No. Play selection plays your selection, and Hear the end (in Fine tune) plays its last seconds. Nothing is encoded until you click Trim audio.
