Open-Source Licenses
UNQIRO builds on open-source software. These components run in your browser as part of the tools; none of them sends your files anywhere.
Components
- Mediabunny 1.60.0 (MPL-2.0): reads, decodes and writes audio and video files in the audio tools.
- Mediabunny MP3 encoder 1.60.0 (MPL-2.0): connects the LAME MP3 encoder to Mediabunny.
- LAME 3.100 (LGPL-2.0-or-later): encodes MP3 files, as a separate WebAssembly module in its own worker.
- pdf-lib (Cantoo fork) 2.11.1 (MIT): reads and writes PDF files in the PDF tools.
- PDF.js 6.3.289 (Apache-2.0): draws PDF pages for previews and PDF to image.
- lean-qr 2.7.4 (MIT): builds the pattern of the QR Code Generator (images are drawn by UNQIRO itself).
- jsQR 1.4.0 (Apache-2.0): reads a QR code from an image where the browser has no reader of its own.
- big.js 7.0.1 (MIT): calculates with exact decimals in Percentages and Units.
- yaml 2.9.1 (ISC): converts between JSON and YAML in Data.
- zxcvbn-ts 4.2.0 (MIT): estimates password strength in the Password Strength Checker; its language package also carries the EFF Large Wordlist (CC BY 3.0 US) for passphrases.
- fzstd 0.1.1 (MIT): decompresses Zstandard data in the AppImage Icon Extractor.
- Astro router 7.3.5 (MIT): keeps a file you bring to the homepage in this tab when a tool that can take it opens.
- Geologica, Geist and Geist Mono typefaces 5.3.0 (OFL-1.1): set the homepage; served from this site, not from a font service.
IconGrabber
The Windows icon tools (Windows Icon Extractor, Extract Icon from EXE, Extract Icon from DLL and ICO to PNG) are based on IconGrabber, an open-source desktop app (MIT license) by the same author as UNQIRO. Its way of reading Windows program files and rebuilding icons was reimplemented in TypeScript for the browser, with stricter checks for damaged and hostile files. No IconGrabber code is copied or loaded, so it is not a third-party dependency of UNQIRO.
IconGrabber handles Windows icons only. The macOS and Linux icon support (ICNS to PNG and the AppImage Icon Extractor) was developed separately for UNQIRO.
MP3 encoding with LAME
MP3 files are encoded with the LAME MP3 encoder, used unmodified under the GNU Lesser General Public License. It is loaded as a separate WebAssembly module, only when you create an MP3. Its source code is available from the LAME project, and the build settings and bridge code from the Mediabunny MP3 encoder package.
