Split Audio

Set split points on the waveform and save each part of an audio file, one by one or all together.

Your files stay on your device.

Drop a recording to split it

MP3, WAV, FLAC, OGG, M4A, AAC, AIFF and WebM recordings, or MP4, MOV and WebM videos, up to 2 GB.

Recordings are processed on your device. Nothing is uploaded, and your original is never changed.

How splitting works

  • Points on the waveform: Add a split point at the playhead, then drag it or move it with the arrow keys. Each point divides the recording, so three points make four parts.
  • Every part is checked: Each part is encoded and checked before it is offered. Parts are at least 0.1 second long, and a split makes up to 99 of them.
  • One by one or all together: Download a single part, or all of them in one ZIP file. The original recording stays as it is.

Frequently asked questions

Are the parts exactly back to back?

Yes: each part ends at the sample where the next one starts. An MP3 part adds the few milliseconds of encoder delay every MP3 has; WAV adds none.

How are the parts named?

After the recording, numbered in order: interview-part-01.mp3, interview-part-02.mp3 and so on.

Can I split a video?

Its sound, yes: drop the video and extract its audio first, keep working with the recording, then split it.
