What to know about cropping

  • Nothing is rasterized: Cropping sets the visible area of each page (its crop box). The page content is not redrawn: text stays selectable and searchable, and vector graphics stay sharp.
  • Cropping is not redaction: Cropping changes the visible page area. It does not remove what lies outside it: that content stays in the file and can be shown again by other programs. To remove content for good, use a redaction tool.
  • Rotated pages crop as you see them: The frame works on the page as it is shown. For a rotated page, the top of the frame is the top you see, whatever the page stores internally.

Scripts and passwords

Scripts, forms and links in the PDF are never run, submitted or opened. A PDF that needs a password to open is not supported.

Frequently asked questions

Can I crop all pages the same way?

Yes. Draw the frame on one page, then choose All pages: every page loses the same margins, measured from its own edges. Selected pages works the same way for pages you selected in Organize.

Can I set exact margins?

Yes. Fine tune shows the four margins in millimetres. A crop that would leave a page with no area is refused and named, never silently shortened.

Can I undo a crop?

Back to original returns to the file you opened. Your original file is never changed; the cropped PDF is a new file you download.
