Choosing the right settings

  • PNG or SVG: PNG suits documents and social posts. SVG stays sharp at any size and is best for print and design tools.
  • Error correction: Higher levels still scan when the code is scratched or partly covered, for example by a logo, but make the pattern denser.
  • Colours: Dark on light scans most reliably. The page warns about low contrast and refuses colours that would make the code nearly invisible.

Frequently asked questions

Do these QR codes expire?

No. The content is stored in the pattern itself; there is no redirect service in between that could stop working or track scans.

How does the Wi-Fi code work?

It uses the WIFI: format that phone cameras recognise. Special characters in the network name or password are escaped, so names with ; or : still work.

How much can a QR code hold?

Up to 2,953 bytes at the lowest error correction level, less at higher levels. Long texts make dense codes that are harder to scan, so links and short texts work best.

Can others read the Wi-Fi password from the code?

Yes. The password is stored in the pattern as plain text, so anyone who can scan the printed code can read it.
