Extract Audio from Video

Take the soundtrack out of an MP4, MOV or WebM video and save it as MP3 or WAV.

Your files stay on your device.

Drop a video to take out its sound

MP3, WAV, FLAC, OGG, M4A, AAC, AIFF and WebM recordings, or MP4, MOV and WebM videos, up to 2 GB.

Recordings are processed on your device. Nothing is uploaded, and your original is never changed.

Good to know

  • Three video formats: MP4 and MOV (from phones and cameras) with AAC or MP3 audio, and WebM with Opus or Vorbis audio. Other containers such as MKV or AVI are not accepted yet.
  • The original codec is not kept: The sound is decoded and written again as MP3 or WAV. WAV avoids a second compression, but it cannot improve the original audio.
  • Long videos are fine: Because the video pictures are never decoded, an hour-long video takes about as long as an hour of audio.

Frequently asked questions

What if the video has several audio tracks?

The main (first) audio track is used. Separate commentary or language tracks are not extracted in this version.

Are the video title and other tags kept?

Tags such as title, artist, album and cover art are not copied into the new file. The result contains the sound and the technical information a player needs.
