Create ZIP

Put files or a whole folder into one ZIP file, made in your browser.

Your files stay on your device.

Drop files or a folder to put them into one ZIP

Any files, up to 2 GB in total.

The ZIP is created in your browser. Your files are not uploaded.

What the ZIP contains

  • Standard compression: Text, documents and similar files get smaller. Photos, videos and files that are already compressed hardly shrink, so they are stored as they are, which is faster and keeps the ZIP small.
  • Checked before saving: The finished ZIP is opened again and every file in it is decompressed once more to confirm its checksum. Only then is it offered.
  • Works everywhere: The ZIP uses the standard format with UTF-8 file names, so Windows, macOS, Linux and phones can open it. File dates are kept.
  • Size limit: Up to 10,000 files and 2 GB in total per ZIP, because the browser holds the finished ZIP in memory until it is saved.
  • Folders and duplicate names: Folders keep their structure. If two files would end up with the same path, the second one is renamed, and the list shows it before anything is created.

Frequently asked questions

Why are empty folders missing?

Browsers pass on the files in a folder you choose, but not empty folders, so they cannot be added. Folders that contain files are kept with their structure.

Can I protect the ZIP with a password?

Not yet. The ZIP files created here are not encrypted.

Can I add a folder by dragging it?

Yes. Drop the folder onto the page, or use Add folder; its structure is kept in the ZIP.
