What to expect

  • Lossless images: There is no quality setting, because PNG does not throw away detail. Text edges and thin lines stay exactly as they were drawn.
  • Larger files: Lossless also means larger. A page as PNG is often several times bigger than the same page as JPG, especially with photos on it.
  • Size you can predict: Output scale 1×, 2× and 3× draws the page at 72, 144 and 216 pixels per inch. The pixel size of page 1 is shown before converting.

Scripts and passwords

Scripts, forms and links in the PDF are never run, submitted or opened. A PDF that needs a password to open is not supported.

Frequently asked questions

Does the PNG have a transparent background?

No. Pages are drawn on white, the way PDF viewers and printers show them, so the images look like the pages you know.

Which output scale should I pick?

2× works well on most screens. 3× helps when you want to zoom in or print the image; 1× is enough for small previews.

Can I convert a whole document?

Yes, up to 500 pages, as long as the images stay within 400 megapixels in total. Download all pages at once as a ZIP file.

Can I edit the text afterwards?

Not as text. A PNG is an image of the page. To change the words you need the original document or a PDF editor.
