What the converter does
- Web font wrappers only: TTF and OTF to WOFF2 or WOFF, and WOFF or WOFF2 back to the font inside. A WOFF2 that holds CFF outlines unpacks to OTF, never to a TTF in name only.
- Checked before you save: A WOFF is unwrapped again and compared table by table; a WOFF2 is decoded again and compared glyph by glyph with the reference WOFF2 library.
- What changes: WOFF2 rebuilds the glyph tables in its own encoding and removes a digital signature (DSIG), as the format requires. Glyphs, layout features, variations and names stay.
Frequently asked questions
Can it convert TTF to OTF?
No. That would redraw every outline in another curve format. Renaming the file changes nothing about what is inside, so the converter does not offer it.
What about the font license?
The converter shows the license fields and embedding permissions the font states. It cannot decide what a license allows; check the font license before you publish a converted font.
