Turn a JSON array of objects into a CSV table for Excel or Google Sheets.

Rules for the conversion

  • Flat objects only: Nested objects and arrays are reported with their position instead of being squeezed into a cell. Flatten them first if you need them.
  • Proper quoting: Cells containing the delimiter, quotes or line breaks are quoted, and quotes inside are doubled, as CSV requires.
  • Formula safety is your choice: Cells starting with =, +, -, @, a tab or a carriage return can run as formulas in spreadsheet apps. The page counts them; spreadsheet-safe mode prefixes them with an apostrophe, which changes the data, so leave it off for columns of negative numbers. Up to 200,000 rows.
  • Every key gets a column: Keys that appear only in some objects still get a column; the other rows leave that cell empty.

Frequently asked questions

Which delimiter should I use?

Comma for most tools and English-language Excel. Semicolon where the decimal separator is a comma, as in German or Austrian Excel. Tab when values contain many commas.

How are empty values written?

null and missing keys become empty cells. true, false and numbers are written exactly as in the JSON.
